I have isolated the problem to this:

Every time I run Virtual PC (6.1.1) it generates a folder and a file: home/Library/Plug-ins/DiskImages/VirtualPCDiskImagePlugin.bundle

When this folder (DiskImages) exists, my machine acts the fool. Disk Images won't mount, Disk Utility won't run, etc. etc. When I pull it to the trash, everything works fine again. No reboot or re-login required.

Any ideas about what is going on here? When I recently "upgraded" to the VPC 6.1.1 I don't think that the VPC "extras" loaded properly, but I don't know how to find them to load them again.

Any help or suggestions (aside from "Don't run VPC") would be appreciated.

In the past, using an earlier version of Virtual PC, I occasionally found it necessary to trash all of Virtual PC and then install a fresh version. This solved most problems. sam
