EDIT:

Sorry about the post below. I solved the problem by checking the "my server requires me to log on" box in my Exchange Directory advanced options. I checked version X, and there is no such checkbox in Directory advanced options. This box is different between versions, and the auto setup of Exchange 2004 (which I love) did not catch it. Hopefully this find will help someone

Original post:
Exchange mail has been working fine in 2004 since I installed yesterday. When I went to look up a name, I get a dialog box stating "No matching entries found".

I opened Entourage X and it's Directory Services was still working fine. I had a good working system in version X. It's disappointing that this feature has failed in 2004.

Anyone else seen this problem?

I tried for a while today to get Entourage 2004 to connect to our Exchange 2003 server. I could see the Public Folder structure, but couldn't see anything inside. The only folder to show up from my folder list was the Junk Email folder. I couldn't even get the global address list to show up.

So then I tried Mail. All my folders showed up. Can send and receive. Any changes I make are immediately seen on the exchange server. Still don't' have access to the Global address list though.

Not trying to say Mail has better access than Entourage since I'm looking at both as options for a few clients on our network who currently use POP to access the exchange server. I'd like to get both working and test out both so I could recommend the better solution.

Guess I'll try again tomorrow, but it's good to know someone else has it working.

I'm also having trouble connecting to our GAL using 2004. I've tried a zillion things, but so far no love. It works fine with Entourage X.

jguidroz:
Regarding the connection to the Exchange server, note that Entourage 2004 uses OWA to connect, unlike Entourage X. For the Exchange Server field, you must put in the URL for the OWA. For example, http://some.domain.com/exchange/

I didn't use the Setup Assistant, so I don't know if that would have fixed my GAL issue. I had to manually change the Exchange Server setting after reading of the OWA setting in the Microsoft Entourage Support Forum.

So far, I'm impressed with this upgrade. I really like the new Entourage. I still use Eudora at home, but Entourage is a pleasure to use at work, for once. When I fix my GAL issue, I'll be set.
