Can anyone tell me if you can run both programs at once? I have heard the new parts of entourage are really slow. He doens't like the listing of the days and the animation when sending and receiving mail. So can I use my old entourage and use the other new parts of office?
Thanks

I don't see or know of any animation that occurs when sending messages; however, a preference can be turned on/off on the received mail animation for sure...
Also, if the person doesn't like how the e-mails are grouped by "Received" days...then simply turn that option off under the "View > Arrange by" option (un-check "Show in Groups)...

Thanks GoRicky and General Smiley, but can they coexist? Hey Proudest Monkey! I am a graduate from SCSU!!! Glad to see other Mac users from up there! Actually, all of my extended family lives in St. Cloud, beautiful town, but getting too crowded.
I think I am going to order the upgrade for Office anyways, but if anyone knows if the two programs can coexist I would like to hear about it!
Thanks

I don't know if they coexist because I promptly deleted the old version after upgrading and importing all my Entourage v. X data (perfectly converted I might add)...trust me, there is NO reason not to upgrade....

I'm glad this thread is here... don't have to start a new topic.
Here's why I want to run both Office X and Office 2004 together on the same machine -
The new Word 2004 isn't compatible with EndNote. I need EndNote like I need air to breathe. So, I want to keep using Word X for now.
The new PowerPoint has the presenter screen functions (finally!) like the Windows version has had for some time now. I need PowerPoint probably more than I need EndNote.
So, I'd like to use the new PowerPoint 2004 and the old Word X. Either version of Excel will do, and I don't use Entourage, so its not an issue there.
Anyone try to use both on the same machine???
I'm downloading the Demo version (the real one ) now and I'll try it out.

From my testing I just tried on another machine is that you can in fact use both versions; however, you cannot obviously use any (2) of the same application at the same time (Entourage v. X and Entourage:2004 for example) as the OS thinks it's the same program. But, you can use Word v. X and PowerPoint:2004 at the same time (as wanted above)...
Hope that helps.

Confirmed. I installed the 30-demo of Office 2004 and was able to use PowerPoint/Excel 2004 and Word v.X together. Didn't try Entourage (don't use it).
Not sure how the project center functions would handle this, but I almost never use that feature anyway.
Hurray. I can upgrade to the new Office, use the new PowerPoint (which has a great slide presenter mode shown on the main display, and a nice Mac/Win compatibility checker) and continue using Word X for EndNote compatibility (at least until EndNote is updated to support Word 2004).
