I downloaded Microsoft Office 2004 TestDrive and the compatibility with Win version of Word is pretty good (I now could open Word files that I couldn't with Word v.X that I tried in my University's Mac lab).

But the main problem I have with the TestDrive is that Word 2004 starts to beachball too often when I move from the Word window to the menubar and click on he menubar. It work beachball for about 20 seconds.

Also there is a lag/ a little beachballing when the cursor changes to the I beam cursor when I click on the Word window to type.

Does anyone have any suggestions to keep the beachballing to a minimum?

I would love to buy Office 2004, but my productivity would be hampered from the constant beachballing when using Word 2004.

Try removing it and re-installing. I've never had this problem before.

I've experienced it too. When you click on a feature it beachballs. After that the feature works fine. Then click on something else and the same thing happens. It's like loadiing things into memory is slow.

The screwiest thing about this test drive is that you can only use it if you are an admin user. I hope that "feature" is removed from the real thing...

Beachballs as crazy for me as well.

The demo also has another weird bug: If a save sheet is visible in notepad view, the tabs of the notepad draw above the sheet when the window is resized.

Is there a way to turn on live window resizing in Word?
