HELP! reverting to previous saved versions

I opened up 2 copies of a word osx document.
After making major changes to one, I saved it. Then as I was shutting down the other, I accidentally saved that one. Is there any way that I can revert back to the first?
Any ideas would be seriously appreciated.
I really need the original.
