Hi

Motion looks like something I might like to buy for the arts project I run. However, I'm guessing it is aimed at G5 users and would run rather slowly on our 1Ghz Powerbook.

And support for FCP is clear. But does Motion also integrate with FCExpress? I can't find any details of this on the site...

Any users?

Thanks
Ben

Motion won't be shipping till this summer/fall, you'll probably find more information after that.

Macintosh computer with 867MHz or faster PowerPC G4 or G5 processor

I'm guessing that it will run, but it's not going to work like a champion. I'm anxious to check it out, but need to find a system to run it on. I have a dual 877 at work which should work, but need more horsepower at hom.

I would also say your screen is also going to be an issue.

I don't think it'll run quite as well in FCE. I'm going to the Seminar for Post Production on Tuesday I'll find out more.

Motion is going to rock but to maximize the realtime functions a fast GPU and computer will be needed. On a PB I doubt you'll get a lot of realtime performance.

Thanks folks

We use a 17" monitor with the Powerbook, so screen space is OK.

I'm pretty sure Motion isn't going to be worth it though - I suspect it simply won't run well enough on our machine.

FCE has been rather sluggish too - having to wait for EVERYTHING to render has really stopped me from moving into DV in a big way. Additional hardware seems to be the way to go.

i just saw a demo on Motion (as well as Shake, FCP HD and DVD SP 3) tonight at an APPLE Pro App Seminar, and it was amazing.

Motion has an interface that NO ONE has ever seen before, and can do thing that will blow you away..

The Integration with DVD SP 3 was really cool too.

I look forward to trying a demo soon.

It will be shipping Summer 2004 for $299
