I need help big time.

I have a new 1.5 AL book + isight and when I try to set up with my PC friend we can not get video or audio when in ichat (2.1) to aim (latest version). We got yahoo to work but only at 1 frame/second -realy crap!

What do I need to do? Do I need to open up ports? Or is there another thing we need to do. Texting only when you have 2 cameras is not fun. Is there a better IM service?

I have checked the forums, lots of issues similar but the fixes are missing.
go go..

from aim.com:
If either you, or the person you want to Video IM with are behind a firewall and are having problems getting Video IM to operate, work with your Internet Service Provider, your company's system administrator or modify your firewall software yourself to open ports 1024 through 5000.
for aim and ichat video

from messenger.yahoo.com:
In order to use all the Yahoo! Messenger Webcam features, your firewall must permit incoming and outgoing TCP connections on port 5100.
i have used yahoo and have gotten the superwebcam thing working. frame rate went up to around 8fps or so. nothing spectacular, but it is way better than it was.

I had the same problem getting it to work with my sister's laptop. I opened ports 5060 to 5300 on both machines, works fine now.

Are they serious? Open up 3976 ports for a chat client? I guess I will have to live without that . . .

I've actually had the displeasure of setting this up on a PC. You need to configure AIM to the defualt audio output, input and video camera. I know it works I've gotten it to work with a PC before several times. The frame rate is better than on Yahoo Messenger. The video on the PC side isn't as good as Mac to Mac on iSight but it's viewable. Unfortuately in a SMALL box.
