Well, it worked beautifully in Office v.X. I launched my VPN client, then launched Entourage, and voila...there's my email.

Now, I upgrade to Office 2004, launch my VPN client, launch Entourage, and...nothing. All settings in both the VPN and Entourage apps are correct.

Anyone else experiencing this? Until I resolve this, Entourage v.X stays put!

Since Entourage:2004 uses WedDAV/OWA to get it's Exchange information, I had this exact same problem until I checked the "DAV service requires secure connection (SSL)" option under the "Advanced" tab of the Exchange account configuration window...

Give that a shot and see if it makes any difference for you...

I am assuming that you previously used IMAP for email, and the exchange server address for everything else. Well, when I upgraded my mac at home for my wife to use with her work server, we had to change from the I.P. address of the exchage server to the Outlook Web Access (OWA) server I.P. address. Then everything came through. No more IMAP email required either. So now she gets her calendar, address book and email through exchange.

I hope that works for you!

And IMAP is diabled on the server level and this still works?
I am asking because in the company I do support for, they have IMAP disabled....So all of the Mac users using the new Entourage (Just upgraded from outlook in OS9) are unable to access the email now....
If I set it up this way would it work with the IMAP disabled?
Who reads this???

As far as I know, that is correct, you do not need an IMAP email account to get email through exchange. In fact, at my wifes work, it is their IT policy NOT to allow IMAP. I'm not sure why, but it doesn't really matter anymore. The exchange server does have to enable WebDAV and Outlook Web Access (OWA).

But I thought you needed to use IMAP with Entourage.

With Entourage 2004 and an exchange server with Outlook Web Access (OWA) and WebDAV enabled, you no longer need to have IMAP enabled to get email as far as I know. That was one of the improvements with Entourage 2004.

This is correct...it's a marginal improvement at best (IMHO) and has it's drawbacks; however, it's a step in the right direction I suppose...

Marginal? Hardly, it's outstanding! I can now point Entorage at our OWA server and access my Exchange account from anywhere on the Internet without having to VPN in. That saves me a bunch of hassle when moving my PowerBook between work, home, and travel.
