I am using Retrospect Desktop 6.0 to backup my iMac running OS X 10.3.4 (in one backup set), and my wife's Windows XPpro (to another backup set) to an external HD via firewire. If I can get it to work once, it no longer works a secind time, giving "Cannot Perform Immediate Backup - Log Reports Catalog Locked" errors. When this happens, I try to quit Retrospect (seems to have quit), but when I try to drag the external HD to the trash to unmount, I get an error message saying the disk is in use. No other programs are running -- just finder. I run Disk Utility and then run TechTool Pro 4.0.2 -- same problem.
If I restart, seems I can run Retrospect a second time. This is inconvenient, to say the least. Another alternative is to rebuild the catalog -- that works, but took 3.5 hours last time. Unacceptable.
I am now questioning whether I have a good backup set.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
