I got my powerbook g4 today (switched from pc) and im currently installing VPC. I was just wondering does it actually take up room on the macs harddrive or what space does it install itself in? I'm installing XP Pro on it. It said it had a 15 gb partition and was formatting that. would that affect anything on my pb's harddrive?
thanks.

Yes, Virtual PC takes up space on the hard drive. It uses an image for storing the Windows drive.
Thankfully, you don't need to set aside 15 GB for the 15 GB image used with VPC. VPC will gradually expand the image until it reaches 15 GB. So, while Windows will see a 15 GB drive, the image will only take a couple of gigs on your hard drive, depending on what you've got installed.

Sure can. Try reading the manual to find out more about the software you bought.

If you like long pauses install XP. If you would like an emulation that will actually work then run 2000 or NT. Unless you have a program that must run on XP, installing that bloatware will not run quickly.
Also why do you need to download something through VPC. Personally I completely emasculated VPC so it can not connect to the net, as it allows a bit of a back door to your secure computer. Your emulated windows can get a virus like a normal windows machine.
If you need to play certain files, typically there is an apple alternative.
