I know many of you use LaunchBar, but I still like DragThing. It feels like a comfortable *old slipper*.

I've been using it since OS 9...it's matured well along with the Mac OS

I've asked this before...but never got the FULL answer. Maybe I'm asking for too much.
Can Dragthing replace the dock completely? Meaning that I would NEVER use the original dock anymore. I would see Dock notifications, dock menus, running apps, and launch them too from DragThing?
I used to use it in 9.x, I've tried it in X, but I simply can't get rid of the OS X dock.

I think Drag thing has all the features of the Dock.
Though getting rid of the dock is the problem.
It is kind of part of the OS, Things rely on it being there to run. (Expose for one I belive)

Right, but if one can hide the dock and get it to not come up, all the while using DragThing - that would work for me.

I don't think it does completely replace the dock. I've been tracking it's development, and the two features that it still doesn't seem to have that the dock has are:
1) It does not show you any icon notifications (messages, changed site etc)
2) You cannot minimize a window to a Dragthing dock.
If there is a way to get Dragthing to do those things, please let me know.

I guess you are right.
Tough I can also see why these things can't be done... hmmm

1) true
2) you can have a windows dock that shows all the current windows, when they are minimized they are still shown in the windows dock
You don't really need to disable the dock... I use Dragthing most of the time to launch my apps (it's on th bottom left side of my screen) and I use the dock for launched apps (bottom right)
It works fine, and is a great add on to the dock... but I never wanted to use it as a replacement

I use DragThing to compliment the dock. I keep the Application menu where I've expected it to be since OS 9 (drawer, pinned top-right) with a key-command to collapse/expand it, and I keep another DragThing dock pinned to the left. All my most-used apps (prolly 15) reside in Apples dock at the bottom, and everything else, app-wise is in the DragThing dock to the left-- More Art apps, Utilities, Internet, Text Editors, Audio, and one for frequently accessed folders, like clip art, and archives, to which I have also assigned hot keys.
Edit: 5.2 is a nice refinement/expansion of features. Very nice.
