I saw the new Toast with Jam software was released by Roxio lately and wondered if Toast is now native with OS X or has to be upgraded from OS 9 to work in X. The version of Toast in the bundle is 5 same as the previous version. Just wondering...

Yes, Toast Titanium 5 is OSX native. Yes, the new version of Jam is OSX native also.

The problem is, for those of us who already own Jam 2, and know what a time-saver it is on getting your audio CD "just right", with regard to crossfades, and audio between tracks, etc. are getting SCREWED on the price!

If you already own Toast 5 you get to buy Toast+Jam (Plus Peak LE VST) for $99. That's a good deal if you only own Toast 5, but if you already paid $200 for a previous version of Jam (and also already paid for Peak LE, like me), it SUCKS!

Roxio is not offering an upgrade path for current Toast and Jam owners. (I asked them via email.)

I guess you'd be happier if they put the price up?

What has happened is that Toast now offers all of Jam's CD writing abilities (Jam uses Toast's 'engine') so Jam's functionality is limited to the few audio handling routines that Toast doesn't provide.

Would you be happier with Bias pricing structure? They charge a lot of money for an only acceptable product (Peak) that has had its share of very serious bugs, and they screw you on every single upgrade...
