I left this for feedback to Apple, but here's a copy of what I sent:
THis is for iChat AV:
First, iChat is a tremendous program. I have 'switched' several people just for the fact of free phone calls. This is a feature that I'd love to have in iChat.
If someone is using iChat AV and they are 'away' from their computer, I can request an audio/video chat with them but they will not respond and the request will time out.
The feature I'd like is the following:
If someone who's in my approved buddy list is away, and under their profile, I enable a feature called "Allow contact to leave Voice/Video Message" I would like iChat to to contact that person like a normal call. After the timeout request, iChat will then ask me if I wish to leave a Voice/Video message for the contact. By selecting Yes, I can them leave a message for the contact. On return to their computer, they will have a popup from iChat on their screen indicating that their is a voice/video message from the buddy. This will solve the issue of not being able to use iChat when the person is not at their computer.
I believe this feature on iChat would be an awesome enhancement for the application and save many people even more charges for long distant charges (and really set iChat apparent from the rest of the IM programs).
