Greetings music lovers,

Does anybody know of a karaoke player for the Mac? I don't remember the name of the program, but the company that Apple bought and based iTunes on used to have karaoke functionality. You could mute the vocals on just about any mp3, and just have the music. Does iTunes or any other program for OS X do this?

There's vocal removal audio plugins for most mp3 players, and probably iTunes as well. However, the resulting output sounds terrible and you can usually still hear the vocals. It's definitely not an exact science.

If you can't find one for itunes you can always make copies of the files and edit them with any audio app (Audacity is free and supports VST plugins) which can do the job for you, and probably better than a realtime filter could.

P.S. The original app was called SoundJam and i think it was published by Cassady & Greene? I could be wrong.
