Ok guys. I can't figure out how to undo something I have done. Somehow, I have gotten Entourage to double download attachments: once to the User/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Saved Attachments folder, and again to a separate folder on my Desktop. I have decided that I don't want to do the second save . . . but I can't remember how I got the program to do this in the first place. Clearly been working way too late on way too many projects). Can anyone help here?

Well, if I could figure out how to get Entourage to download ANYTHING, I could try to help you out... I can't get Entourage to do anything except take up hard drive space.

1. Open /Applications/Mail.app
2. File > Import Mailboxes...
3. Import data from > Microsoft Entourage
4. wait a while
5. Mail > Preferences > General > Default Email Reader > Mail
6. Delete Microsoft Entourage
that should solve any future Entourage problems.

You guys are too funny. Ummm, don't like Entourage much, eh?
So, for those folks who may still be using Entourage 2004, when you set up the program it asks whether you want to create a special place for Attachments. If you say yes, it creates a new RULE. Just go to the RULES list (under tools) and de-select or delete the rule labeled Attachments.

Entourage doesn't create any files from attachments by default. If it is, you likely have set up a rule or AppleScript to do so. If you do double-click an attachment to open it from Entourage, it will be saved in the "Saved Attachments" folder temporarily. As long as you don't save any changes to that file, it will be automatically deleted the next time you quit and relaunch.
Hope this helps. Certainly it's more helpful than philzilla's "Entourage sux, Mail rulez!!!" post.
