I am trying to capture a frame from a DVD. Unfortunately screen grabs using GRAB are unavailable when using DVD. Are there any work arounds?

Can you take a manual screenshot instead of using "Grab"?

I tried (unless I am not doing it correctly), but that didn't work either.

You can use Grab or the key combos (command+shift+3 or 4) to take screenshots while playing the DVD in VLC. But for some reason the window-only key combo (command+shift+4, and then space) doesn't work, even in VLC.

you can also do some wonky terminal trick...

VLC is always the way to go, unfortunately it's not going to be around much longer if it isn't maintained the way it should be.
