OMG. It seems the update to 10.3.4 breaks SPSS 11. I can hardly find any info on the web about the problem, but my console is full of 'malloc' error messages.
Any work-arounds? Patches?
Ah, I hate SPSS.

With google I managed to find a single report on this problem: It's just a guy reporting on macosxhints.com forums that he has the same problem: Here's his post.
Any way to downgrade easily to 10.3.3?

Works here.

What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.

Oh. How did you get 11.0.1? Is there an updater? I'm running 11.0. Maybe that's the reason...

Works for me with SPSS 11.0.2 as well.
I have noticed that my hard drive seems to be ticking away very fast in the background when SPSS is the foremost application. I don't know whether it did this before 10.3.4 though.

It "works" here too. Personally, I can't wait until I have the time to learn R so I can ditch SPSS permanently. It's slow, full of interface "quirks" and takes up too much CPU in the background. I hate the damn program but at least it launches on my powerbook (it won't EVER launch on my iBook).

Try repairing permissions on your boot drive. If that doesn't help then maybe you should try to reinstall 10.3.4. Download the standalone 10.3.4 upgrade here. Sometimes it helps.
