Hello all,

Does anyone with scripting abilities out there know of a script that will allow me to disable the iTunes sharing port *only* on startup? I would like to turn off this feature on our Mac users' machines, as it is taking up a LOT of internal bandwidth. Gentle reminders of what happens with it enabled have proven fruitless.

We will be using 10.3.4 and iTunes 4.6, if that helps. Would an equivalent be to set the Firewall to "On" and just not check any of the ports that are listed? Will setting it like this cause any other problems?

Thanks for the help.

Turn off sharing in iTunes itself and then change the ownership of the preference file so the user can't modify it.

But for your script I believe you just need to activate the LoginHook and run a bash script which tells ipfw to block whatever ports you want. Might want to check out LoginWindow Manager.
