I'm building my personal web site and would like create some pop-up windows with content that would launch off a link on the main site.
I've tried to learn the HTML coding off a great site (htmlcodetutorial.com) but admittedly am a novice at coding.
Are there any Mac apps that would do this?
Thanks.

I hope NOT.
Darn pop-ups. I hate them !
If I want a page to open, I want to click on a link. A controllable experience. But no f***** pop-up's.
Why would you want to bother people with that ?

Ugh, nothing like pop-ups to irritate visitors to your site. Besides, if you plan on any Mac users, Safari or others will block them out anyway.

Are you actually looking for popups? or are you looking at opening links in new windows when clicked? If it is the latter, look into the "target" attribute to the "a" tag.

Do you possibly mean to spawn a new browser?
try this <a href="what_you_want_to_link_to.html" target="_blank"> -- there is a couple other properties you can apply to target, I would suggest looking up "target=". Here's a link: Target.
The target tag is where you determine opening a new browser window. Whereas, if you really wanted a resized window to display ads or smaller content and not navigate the user to a page - aka pop-up - you would need to know some Javascript. Javascript is the best way I know how to make pop-ups or pop-unders.
But, as a professional web designer... take my advice, keep the user with the same browser at all times. New browsers and new pop-ups only irritate and confuse visitors. After advertisements for Viagra and the like ruined pop-ups - no one wants to see them for any reason. As well as the statistic that 40% of web users are currently running software to block pop-ups. Although, I believe people have found ways to undermine Google's toolbar (which has built-in pop-up blocking).

Velodev,
You hit it on the nose. I'm not looking for an annoying pop up rather opening a new page of content from a link.
Thanks for your help.

I would strongly agree with everyone else in this thread. Pop ups are horrible. It's the fastest way to make people NEVER come back.
There isn't any mac specific applications, but you may want to look at this:
I think it's rather simple.

if you need to spawn a new browser window and define the size,etc... you'll either need to know some javascript or find yourself a copy of Dreamweaver.

Frankly, I find this behaviour of spawning a new window in a size I didn't want just as annoying as pop-ups (in fact it is more so as I can easily block pop-ups and so *never* see them anymore). Thankfully you can get around it ninety per cent of the time, but that other ten per cent is mightily irritating.
