Everytime I try to open a movie file in Quicktime player, it crashes after showing the movie window. It starts up if you don't try to open a file but once you do, it crashes.

I've tried using search to find all aspects of quicktime (preferences, engine, etc.) and trash it, then re-download via software update but I get the same result once the new installation is complete. Has anyone else had this problem? Any other things to try? Any help is appreciated.

(Something I think may be relevant is this didn't start until I replaced my hard drive and transferred my files via a disk image of my old drive.)

....by copying them with the Finder? That doesn't work in OS X.

when QT crashes, click "submit report" (or whatever) and copy the memory backtrace here. That will be where you find the clues as to what in particular is buggered.
