Here's a suggestion I just sent to Apple. Anyone like it or even care to comment?

The suggestion I have is for us to be able to load the ITMS, hit the play button and have iTunes pick tracks in a random order and play the 30 second preview of each one. This way, we all get to hear some new music that we wouldn't otherwise think of listening to or buying.

Obviously, while the track is playing, the snap-back arrow would take you to the song/artist page where you could buy it, but another feature would be for iTunes to have a menu containing the last 5 or 10 demoed songs so that you could go back to a previous song (whose name you probably don't know if you've never heard it before!). That way, there's probably more chance of you buying music you've never listened to before.

Anyway, tell me what you think.

I won't say it's a bad idea.....but iTMS already has a number of ways to accomplish almost the same thing. Try looking at the celebrity play lists or "people who bought this also bought" or the iMixes.

I know you can do that, but that involves you actually browsing the store. What I'm suggesting would be more radio-like. Have random iTMS tunes playing away in the background while you're working on something else. As is, I have iTunes randomly play my library while I'm working so that I'm not subjecting myself to the same music over and over again.

I just like the idea of working on something else on the computer, hearing a new song (or something I've heard on the radio but keep forgetting to buy it) and thinking "ooh, that sounds cool and with 2 or 3 clicks, I can have it!". See where I'm going with this?

You could just drag a bunch of songs from the store to a playlist, turn on Shuffle, and hit play.

Not the most elegant solution, but it's sort of what you're getting at.
