Hey.

Everytime I talk to somebody on iChat that isn't on my buddy list, they are added to my buddy list the next time I quit. I have yet to figure out what is causing the problem or how to stop it.

Any suggestions?

I know for Adium we have to add a buddy to the server side list to get status updates for the buddy through AIM.

iChat could be doing a similar thing.

Just in case you didn't figure this one out yet, it has to do with a recent AIM feature called "Recent Buddies"...the good news is that it can be disabled; however, the bad news is that it takes the latest AIM for Windows in order to do it.

More info on what "Recent Buddies" does and how to disable it for good...

I don't know how this is not happening to everybody using iChat since it's a server side thing on the AOL servers as far as I know. Hopefully an iChat preference will fix this down the road and make it easier.

Doh, I never did reply. I guess my problem stopped when my old computer broke, which kinda put me out of the loop for a while.

I noticed it not on iChat, but the latest AIM for OSX, and it's a stupid feature. just dumb.
