i have a minidisc recorder that will allow me to record mp3 songs onto it at up to 32x speed through usb. it uses sony soundstage program to transfer songs. i have since bought a powerbook, and am rather short on money ... so i think i'll buy applecare for it instead of an ipod ... for now...

is there software that will allow me to transfer music to minidisc recorder via usb? it is a sony minidisc player and netmd capable. any help will be greatly appreciated ... i'm a recent switcher and i havent a clue if there is a way to do this..

You're pretty much stuck with the line out for MD, although there is an app that will allow you to name/delete tracks on the mac

whoops .. sorry .. up to 32 over usb (using mdlp4) (horrible compression .. your're right) i run it at mdlp2 which .. i assume is 16x? .. whatever . i hate just doing 1--1 .. where burning 80 minutes would take 80 minutes .. that's why i got a netmd md player .. this was before i got the laptop .. and ipods are too pricy for me at the moment .. hrmmm

Just FYI, NetMD devices unfortunately don't just store MP3 data on the disc -- the SoundStage software first transcodes it to ATRAC (with the inherent quality loss from transcoding).
