Mail.app : Sync w/other IMAP folders?

Can Mail.app sync to folders that you create on youro IMAP email server?
[other than the default inbox, sentbox, deleted messages, draft ....]???

Yes, and unlike OE for Windows, you don't have to subscribe to any IMAP folders, it detects them upon next launch.

did this change in panther? [i don't remember it having this capability in jaguar]?
can you create the folders in OS X [for imap]?
or does the folders have to be created elsewhere?

nope - i think it pretty much always worked in Mail.app, and yes, you can create them right in Mail, no need to create them elsewhere.

There's a new IMAP folder on my email account called [OldMail] but it doesn't show up in Mail.app????

Does the name include the square brackets? (just an idea)
try right-clicking the mailbox and choosing "Synchronise..."

No, it does not include the brackets
It just doesn't show up in mail.app anywhere?
my ISP is changing it's email policy, and created an "Old Mail" folder that I want backed up...... before it's deleted
