Just for personal use?

Hum.

Well, there's AppleScript Studio - comes free with the OS X dev tools that come free with your computer or any OS purchase or just by signing up at apple for a free developer account.

Cocoa isn't too bad either - but the tutorials generally assume you know C or some other programming language.

There's RealBASIC. But that's not free.

What kind of goals did you have in mind for this app? Keep in mind that you're going to have to learn something about programming to make any sort of useful tool - but that's easier to do in some environments than others.

I would suggest that RealBasic is the easiest way to write a program quickly for a non-programmer. It's a very intuitive language with the best user interface builder around. There is a very helpful mailing list community with over 15,000 registered users (called the NUG). You can try it out for 30 days before you have to buy it, so you can see if it fits your needs.

I've got dev tools for a dozen languages on my laptop, but for a quick GUI app I still go to RealBasic first.

What is the program supposed to do? Depending on your goals, some environments might be easier to use than others.

I like to play around with photoshop, and I will like to make an application like logomaker (it is a cool application thoug) but instead of making logos, I will like to make generic party flyers, you know , something like, I don't know, If want to make a flyer for a party or something, just select images and build a flyer with a couple of clicks... something like that... any ideas?

i also want to make a small nice programme, and I know exactly what it should do:

there are four-five .txt files, each file containg all the rune inscriptions in Sweden in various forms (direct translation from rune alphabet to latin, translation to English, to old nordic, to old swedish, for example:

ÖL 4{4} $ ... they had the stones raised in memory of Randvé, their mother (eng. trans.)

ÖL 4{4} $ ...-abi * thaiR --tu * raisa * stein- * eftiR * rantui * mothor sina (rune text)

ÖL 4{4} $ <-abi> thæiR letu ræisa stæina æftiR Randvi, modhur sina. (old nordic/swedish)

In the app one should be able to search for everyhing, the stone number (ÖL 4), anything in the text. If one then searches for <thaiR> then the result should be so that all informatoin from all the .txt-files will be presented (the two above + from all other .txt.files). Preferebly with a picutre of the rune stone itself... - similar to iTunes and iPhoto, except that it shows text... could be a usefull library for many things

any tips? i know noting about programming.

I don't know much about either programming or photoshop, but surely that is what the "Actions" are for in Photoshop - so that you can automate various procedures. Other than that, it sounds like AppleScript is the ideal candidate for this.

I would suggest RealBasic. Powerful enough to do whatever you want and still very easy.

Only problem is its friggin expensive.
