v12.1 released

Download here

Release notes:

• Text Wrap - apply to any graphic over text: Object -> Text Wrap...
• Graphics which span entire width of text stop text flow - workaround is to resize the text block above the graphic, and add a new text chain below graphic by clicking the red "+" icon.
• Group's contents are not analyzed
• use mask group to get shape wrap on groups
• HTML, to be WYSIWYG, outputs text and its wrapped graphics as one graphic - chain text and make blocks around the graphic if you want live text in the HTML output
• For best results around paths with scaling and rotation, try converting them to Splines first - or if that is not what you want, copy the item to be wrapped, convert that to Spline and wrap the Spline and place the original object in the knockout.
• If you find words are breaking over irregular shapes that are too close to the edges of the text - try Justifying the text. If you are still unhappy with the results, you might increase a hidden default which controls how wide a space must be before text is actually placed, the "TextPlacementLimit". By default, it's 20 points. To set it, type this in a terminal window: defaults write com.stone.Create TextPlacementLimit 30
• You can now resize the document to any size you like by holding down the COMMAND-KEY when you resize or maximize (the green window button) the window. This is good for small documents where you want to see the tool bar.
• Contextual Menu for graphics has added cut, copy, paste, delete, send to back and bring to front
Control-click misspelled word to see list of suggested replacements
• You can Option-Drag the selection right into the Art Gallery
• Improved UI of Page Layers and Web Resources
• Mask Group can be used directly in Wrapped Text to fit shape
• The toolbar's height is now taken into account so you can maximize the entire document to not use scrollbars
• Option-click for copy waits until you actually start to drag to avoid unwanted copies now
• Undo in the document works even if the Library Resources panel is the foremost
• Renaming art works even if you just click away from cell (before it required a )
• Help tip on rulers to remind you about the new way to create guides
• Envelope Script works again select an Address in Addressbook first for less typing!
• Text in group is not accidentally resized on opening
• Guides are more accurate and faster to apply new ones
• Make Into Splines now observes scale and rotation

I've always been really impressed with Create. It's the most powerful vector graphics app out there, IMO. But it's a shame the GUI has to be so awful.

Well, Stone Design is a one man band so to speak, and so the UI takes the shortest route in coding terms most of the time.

However, Andrew Stone (the lead developer) is very receptive to comments and suggestions and you can also suggest things through the Stone Design Forums.

The customisable toolbar has been a great improvement to the app, but if you know how to improve the rest of the app then I'm sure your comments will be welcome.
