I think I'm finally ready to put my Cocoa programming skills to the test. The only problem is that I don't have any ideas about what to make. So, what kinds of apps would people on the forums like to see? I appreciate any and all ideas.

Thanks

not sure how many of these fall within your cocoa parameters or if they're too basic or too hard, but in case it inspires something:

New Software
conduit to sync stickies w/ notes on palm/phones/etc. via iSync
Sherlock channel for FindLaw.com
Sherlock channel that actually has "add to address book" available from the white pages/yellow pages
Sherlock channel for TV that actually works
easy sound editing app (like you can do with Quicktime pro, but without the $30 pricetag - so you can cut mp3s in half for hidden tracks and the like)
easy app/plugin that gets pictures from iPhoto or wherever and crops them to exactly the right size/shape for Address Book

Software that's great, but needs some help:

Meteorologist (Weather in menu bar, free, and more customizable than Weatherpop)
TextEdit (yes, the Apple app) - but with extra features such as page numbering, adjustable margins (smaller than 1 inch), etc. - this one could be a good starting point since you can see the TextEdit source right in the Dev. Tools
Camino - it's the cocoa-ist of the free/opensource browsers

That's it for now for me - I'm sure others have ideas as well.

I know people hate bumped threads, but I'm going to do it anyway...

Anyone else have any ideas?

I would love to see Samplitude Professional come to OS X, but that probably doesn't help you any, unless you could convince Magix to let you port it over.

Also, I would love a program that lets you open a movie (quicktime movie for example) and freely slide the audio and/or video track around. I haven't found anything that will easily let me do this (I have a copy of Dark Side of the Moon synced to Wizard of Oz, but the sync is off by about 1 second and I'd like to fix it).

You could use iMovie to fix that. Just extract the audio from the imported clip.

better yet (because you don't have to recompress twice), Sync Hole or QTMutator (site seems to be down)
