Does Apple Replace Broken CDs

My Panther CD #3 just broken when I was reinstalling MacOS X. Since this was a boxed version will Apple replace my CD if I call them?

I have never directly dealt with apple, so I don't know what they are like.
I doubt very much that they would replace it, since you were the one who broke it. How did you break it?

It broke while I was reinstalling 10.3, inside the CD drive.

Take CD to apple centre, they will burn you a copy.
You own the software so its no big deal.

depends on the tech you speak to. i had a scratched install disk 1 that would bug out at 89% and while the cool folks at the apple store did a full system restore, the applecare techs gave the run around. first that said cool, we'll mail you a new copy, no charge. i never got it so i called back and they had no record of the previous conversation but that tech was more than happy to charge me $30 per CD that needed replacing. i said thanks, but no thanks and bought a complete non-copied set from someone.
