Call yourself a developer? and you can't even figure out how to install the OS.

I'm mean come on, its bad enough you've downloaded it, its worse that you don't have a clue how to install it.

Truth is, if you have an additional partition, or external drive, you don't even need to boot from the DVD to install it....

OK, I admit to being confused. DVDs aren't a problem for me, but how would one install without it? The only way I can think of is to use Pacifist to extract the install image to an empty partition, but I have not clue if that would work.

Haha, no really.

The developer preview is intended to be tested on all machines that will be able to run the final. Excluding early G4 towers, all the non DVD Macs aren't all that great at running OS X anyway (coloured iBooks etc).

Ambush, you are less than 18 and therefore you are in violation of your NDA and Prototype Software License Agreement with Apple, if in fact you did obtain this DVD legitimately (which you didn't). I have informed Apple Corporate Security.

Couldn't you just open the install package like you can with Panther? I mean, that's bad. Don't do that. Stop it.

Well now that your helping him...

"You can install OSX on any drive without having to boot from the DVD by running osinstall.mpkg as opposed to the big friendly click me installer. Can’t remember exactly where it is as I don't have the DVD handy but I seem to remember its in /library/installation."

Somebody say stupid?

Yes. I was looking at other solutions...

Yes I call myself a developer, in fact I'm know more about developing on a Mac than you do.

Now go back to coding your bug-ridden apps at http://thelittleappfactory.com/ and leave us alone.

Well my less than two year-old iBook 600 has no DVD.

And yet it supports Quartz Extreme.

So Apple is going to offer a CD version.

1) You can't figure out how to install an operating system

2) You state that I do work for thelittleappfactory, when infact I've never done any cocoa coding for thelitteappfactory, I helped with their website about a year ago and thats it - haven't spoken to them since.

3) You ask for help about installing a pirate copy of Tiger, when it is strictly forbidden on this board.

4) You broke your NDA with Apple.

Ambush, you have some learning to do!

Yeah, because your code is totally bug-free. *cough*

So perhaps you could ask some of your fellow developers at WWDC to install it on your iBook using Target Disk Mode. Oh sorry, you're not at WWDC, and you're just making stuff up.

Multiple unrelated statements do not a logical argument make.

why would someone start a thread like this when people went through about the same flame wars last year with panther's developer release?

Besides shouldn't this be in the OS X forum?

I love it Come on think about it, you posted on a public message board which is completely against software piracy, a question about how to install a pirate copy of Tiger. Can't you see how stupid that is?

1) Its just asking for a flame war.
2) Its admitting, in public, that you pirate software (particularly bad for a software developer).
