I need to BACKUP a file onto a DVD the file is 5.63 Gigs: I cannot compress the file in any way as it is a video file that needs to maintain absolute visual fidelity.

I want to find soemthing that will allow me to make two seperate volumes from teh file that I can reconstitute later.

I cannot afford Backup software like Retrospect (And I don't even know if that works anyway)
I have Backup 2.02 but everytime I try to install it it does not show up on the drive or in the Applicatins folder . . . . I am running Panther.

I tried an applescript that someone helped me find on Machints but it also did not work.

Is there a way to do this with Toast?
or any other programs?
or any way at all . . . I need the space and I need to Back this file up UNHARMED!!

Please help!

When I joined the parts I couldn't open it in any way?

Do you use this program?
How do I join the parts in order to get a usable file?

You can manually segment your 5.64GB file into 2 segments from the terminal. See man hdiutil for instructions, but it will look something like this:

hdiutil segment -o <firstSegname> -segmentSize 4g <your_big_ image>

This will take your big image and create segment it into 4GB segments.
