Anyone successfully install Oracle9i Database Release 2 on Jaguar?

Tried today at work with no success

I'm looking at:
http://otn.oracle.com/pub/articles/rohrer_macosx.html

All goes good until you run that script (createDb). Runs in .0001 sec with no output.

Apparantly the script craps out at:

Code:
cat <<__EOF__ >${WORK_DIR}/init${ORACLE_SID}.ora
From: http://otn.oracle.com/pub/listings/r...macosx_l1.html

Yes, the variable ORACLE_SID and is set correctly. I even used echo to make sure it is.

Any ideas?

hi,

i have installed 9i on both jaguar and panther machines without a problem, however, i was not aware of the article at otn. i followed the instructions in the ReleaseNotes.pdf document in the DBCreate subdirectory of the orahome directory within the.... after un-tarring the download.

the only changes i made to the instructions in that pdf were...

1. i didn't worry about the "admin" account as i already had one.
2. i didn't activate the ftp and telnet services (which might be different on panther)
3. -RPCSERVER- already exists in the panther /etc/hostconfig, so i just changed the value
4. i didn't reboot in the middle of the process

maybe have a look at the differences between that otn doc and the pdf?

cheers,

samthecat
