Could someone share experiences with their favorite Offline Browser Application? I'd like to find a good offline browsing application for use with my G4 iBook (Panther 10.34), for browsing websites offline. I've found quite a few, and have been having difficulty with several of them.

I have iCab installed on my G4 iBook, and have been trying to download a website for offline browsing, but am having some difficulty.

Suggestions please?

Thanks.

Could you be a bit more detailed? What part is it that's causing what problem?
Be sure to save as a web-archive. And perhaps link to the website in question, unless you feel it's something that could reflect poorly on you...

ah, I though that iCabīs cache would be enough. Well, save as web file and you get a file that really is a .zip file. Nice, no one of those IE only files.

But remember, there is a dot graphic at the botton of iCab window to work offline, use it if you had set up a great cache on its preferences.

Is there a trial version of iCab that I can use more than once? I downloaded iCab 2.9.1 last night again to use on my new 1Ghz G4 iBook, OS X 10.3.4, and this morning it has expired again!

I'm about ready to give up with trying to figure out how to use iCab for downloading websites for offline surfing. When I try to surf offline, a warning message tells me to connect to the Internet in order to access the webpages!!

I've tried downloading websites with iCab both as Web cache and Web archive, and neither method has worked yet.

I've been experimenting with PageSucker, WebDevil, and several other offline browsers. I've been able to download websites for offline surfing, but I notice that many images show only a small broken icon. Also, many links do not work, even from the index page. PageSucker allows three levels of download with the trial version. WebDevil only two levels.

I'd still like to give iCab anothter try. Is there no way around downloading iCab each time I want to try it out, without having to buy it first? I really don't need another browser, and if PageSucker, or another offline browser, will work just fine, then perhaps I'll stick with that. PageSucker is only $10.00.

I think you need to update your version of iCab... The version I have is 2.9.7 and I've been using iCab for quite a while without registering.

However, I don't think iCab would be suitable for your needs as the web-archive only stores the page currently visible (no links are saved). You could try saving with the highest depth setting in IE and then use a conversion tool to convert to iCab web-archive.

Has anyone had good luck with any offline browsers? I've been experimenting with many, and have found two that are working ok, but there are still many images and links that don't work while surfing websites offline.

I'm thinking of purchasing PageSucker, or WebDevil, or both. Has anyone used either PageSucker or WebDevil, or other offline browsers that are good?

Thanks.
