Hi there,
I am having serious problems trying to sync a Sony Ericsson P900 phone with my 15" Powerbook (running 10.3.4) using iSync. At first I do get a connection, plus a positive notification in Bluetooth Preferences and everything works OK. Then after a couple of days when I try to connect via Internet Connect - nothing, or an Alert saying " Unable to find device"!
Also I cannot seem to be able to sync my Powerbook Address Book with my Contacts on the P900, therefore I am unable to send SMS messages via my Powerbook.
I have spent quite a lot of time talking with Sony Ericsson Support who tell me that they do not support Apple Mac and refer me back the Apple web-site which in turn refers me back to Sony Ericsson .....
On the other hand a guy at Sony Ericsson Support told me today that this phone WILL work with a Powerbook - but he was not a liberty to tell me how because .... you guessed it .... "We do not support Apple Mac"!!
He did however whisper the word "Emulator" down the 'phone before he hung up!
Has anyone had similar problems with Sony Ericsson mobile 'phones?
Would anyone out there have a solution, 'cos I have pulled what is left of my hair out and I can't afford a hair piece!!
Thanks in advance,
Voicebox.

iSyncing with the P800 and P900 is indeed an absolute nightmare. I have a strong feeling it's Apple's fault, as well, because all other BT functions on the phones work wonderfully (Salling Clicker, BluePhoneMenu, etc.) I can usually get a successful sync like this... it's a bit of a pain, but it works...
1) Restart both the phone and the Mac
2) Establish a connection to the phone with Address Book
3) Run iSync. If it fails the first time, try again.
Apple is being really bitchy about addressing this problem, and it's driving me crazy as well.

There's a great cell phone forum at howardforums.com. They have an entire section devoted to SE phones, and a lot of people there seem to use Macs. I would suggest you ask there and see if anyone knows.
As for what the SE guy told you, I think he was alluding to Virtual PC. That's not an acceptable solution in my mind, but it might be better than having to restart your Mac.

There's a HUGE thread regarding the P900 on Apple's own discussion forums, in the iSync area. You can't miss it, it has over 400 replies. Go to Apple's site, then Support, then Discussions. People seem to report major sync difficulties when using the newest Firmware for the P900. But there's other weird stuff going on, it appears.
The good news: some people appear to get things working reliably, but it takes some fiddling.

I have the same problems as you. Latest firmware on the P900, latest version of iSync. It just won't work most of the time.
Apple seem very quiet about it. It has been months since the last iSync update. I hope they are going to surprise us with a new version which supports multiple calendars on the phone, just as in iCal.
Let us all hope this is released soon!

Here's how I finally managed to get syncing to be reliable. YMMV
1) After pairing, set bluetooth mode to "On" *NOT* "Discoverable" on the P800/P900. Discoverable seems to cause problems for some reason.
2) Disconnect the USB cradle and take the phone off of it before syncing.
3) It helps to establish a connection first--I use BluePhoneMenu, it's free and I like it anyway.
4) Keep the flip open and make sure you press "Connect" when the phone prompts you if you're sure you want to connect to your desktop.
