Hi all,

I had a older version of Illustrator (I forgot what version made it), and opened it up in AI CS. When opening in CS, it has an error opening and says:

Can't open the illustration. The illustration contains an incomplete or garbled object description.

Offending operator: ';'

Now, I think it was a AI 10 file, and it either A.) won't open in CS (v11) or, B.) I re-saved it in CS some time ago, and now it won't open.

However, there seems to be hope - Preview, GraphicConverter, Photoshop, etc can all import the AI file and show the picture fine. I think it's just a bug in CS (btw, I don't have the font installed, so maybe the error is occurring there?) The computers I use AI are all at version CS now, and I can't try opening it in 10.

Any ideas? This is a VERY important AI file that I can't lose.

You might check the Adobe forums. I've seen people get out of corrupted file situations, with help, over there but I don't recall how.

What about your backup? Is it corrupted too? You DO have a backup of your "very imprtant file," right?

Hey timmerk, I have AI 10 installed on my mac. I don't know if I'd be able to help if you gave me the file - depends whether you want to check whether it works in 10/export it as something else/or whatever...
