I have OSX Phanther, and I had been using FCP4 for 6 months already. Yesterday, the "Compressor" was not working, so I re-installed the compressor, but that thing wasn't woking fine, (at that time, Final Cut Pro was working fine) so, I thought, 'what if i re install the final cut pro 4, may be compressor will be working fine.' so i re installed Final cut pro, and the computer keep saying that ~the application final cut pro has unexpectedly quit~ when it starts... and it also happened to my roommate's computer. Maybe, somebody knows what the problem is...Thanks guys...

Well if its a legit copy, I would call Apple for support. Other than that, you could try deleting the preference files and then try to reinstall again.

But, I was really PC user, I had this mac since this year...
What are the preference files?
I tried to delete all files that had named ' final cut pro', and then i installed it again, but it didn't work. could you tell me what the preference files are? and where I can find them?
Thanks...

The preference files are located in:
~/Library/Preferences, where ~ is your home folder. Usually the file will look like this: com.apple.finalcutpro.plist (not sure if thats the correct file name, but it would look similar to that). Also, one thing you could try doing as well is create a new user account and try to install the software in that account. If it works that way, there could be something corrupt with your user account.

THANKS A LOT! BUT...BOTH WAYS DON'T REALLY WORK...
I did it, however, the pop up keep showing up...the application finalcut pro unexpectably...something...these apple guys are too smart^^, maybe I need to buy the final cut pro HD...(but I don't really have money)
Anyway! thanks for your help...
What if I format hard drive, maybe is that a way I can install this?
