I am thinking of opening up a .mac account, but it doesn't say how much space you get for your webpage with them. does the 100mb for the iDisk include the webspace?

Thank you!

Definitely; however, other places offer more space for less $$$...

Well, depends on what you want to do with it.
Space wise, .Mac sucks.

Have a look at this:

It's about $ 100 when signing up for two years.
It's worth it. I can only recommend dreamhost.

Yep - again it depends what you want to do with it. For 1 click photo-to-web sharing it's pretty damn slick - but if you're somebody who's going to be coding all your own stuff anyway, you may not get extra benefit.

Also, .Mac is email storage, web access to email, synchronizing Macs over the internet, a bunch of free (licensed) shareware, and an AIM account all in one... (so if you don't get value from these things, you probably could spend your money better elsewhere).

The peripheral capabilities are much more worth it than the space--easy iCal sharing, .mac synchronization of bookmarks, calendars, and contacts, the Backup utility isn't bad... But if all you want is web hosting space, then I'd look somewhere else.

Tiger is supposed to have greater integration with .Mac as well. And rumors have hit some sites about a massive makeover for .Mac come the end of the year (hopefully with more space as well).

I like the simplicity. I don't really need my own site but it is nice to have something for photos and movies for the family, living so far away, as well as a site for some of my professional work/cv, etc.

The perks are probably better than the actual site, at this time.

Why don't you do the demo and see how it works for you?

All I want it for is the website photo sharing, to back my stuff up and email, and I liek the other perks. the pictures I take with my dig camera are like a meg a piece, are they compressed automatically in .mac or are they uploaded at that size so they take up more space?

Was that a sig? I thought that was one of the photos that Phy said took up too much space.

But from what you said, it sounds as if .Mac fits the bill for your needs.
