I'm new to making movies to burn to DVD. I have FCE and FCP but I thought I'd get my feet wet in iMovie. First, it's pretty intuitive and I started out importing stills, using the Burns effect and audio track effectively. Upon playback though, quality was awful, given the high quality PS produced images I used. All stills were leveled sharpened and reduced in size to be properly handled. The results were, to me, highly pixelated and choppy. My inquiries led me to discover Still Life from Granted Software. There was no comparison between the final products produced. Still life produced an unpixelated, smooth and sharp movie by comparison. I would have thought iMovie would have produced as least equal results.
Is it something I have failed to do iMovie? Not just that, Still Life let's me export to iMovie
using an OpenGl or Quartz extreme rendering option. The resulting playback in iMovie has been stunning given it's simplicity. Does iMovie 4 improve upon iMovie 3? I am disappointed in iMovie's handling of my photos. Maybe someone here has a suggestion.
