Okay, I have been using dual displays (non-mirrored) for a year now...
but this time, while in Displays control, I hit a resolution that evidently
isn't supported by my external monitor. My external monitor went
blank and says "Input not Supported". Why did it have an unsupported
resolution in the list?

Now the problem: there's no way to switch it back!!!!

The panel for that monitor is on that monitor. The menubar is on
that monitor. The only way to rearrange the menu to the laptop
screen is to use the Arrangement tab... which is on that external
monitor.

So, it appears my laptop has lots dual non-mirrored display
capability unless:

1) I find an external display that supports 1280x920 or whatever
goofy thing it had in the list that I selected;
2) I reinstall the OS
3) I find the right preferences file and delete it.

Any other options? If not, this would be one place where Windoze
approach of "try and return to see if it worked" was much better
than the Mac way.

If there is no other way, anyone know what preference file needs
to be slammed!

Thanks!

Disconnect the display. Reconnect it and do a "discover displays". That should do it...I think.

No, that doesn't work... assuming you mean "Detect Displays". It remembers.

Try rebooting your computer and zapping the PRAM a couple of times. That should reset things.
