Hi everyone,
there is a problem a friend of mine has. He just switched to OS X and he wants to use Mail.app full time. But there is a problem. He often gets huge pdf or jpeg or even tiff files and mail.app displays them instantly. This is brillant at first glance, but he just does not need them in Mail.app and this is extremely annoying if one gets about 20 pictures. So, is there an option to disable the display of attachments? I couldn't find one, but I thought you might be able to help out.

Under preferences ->viewing ->make sure the "display images and embedded pictures" option is unchecked.

That setting only affects remote images in HTML messages, not attachments. I'm afraid you're stuck.
