open link in new tab (ok so far) but MAKE IT THE FRONTMOST TAB. Am I missing some Pref somewhere?
sorry if this has been gone over, first time to this Forum.

yes - I think you're missing the preference for "select new tabs as they are created" in the tab preferences.

If you simply read the preference pane, it tells you your answer right there. Hold Command and Shift, and then click the link.
