Hey people,
I previously used to run a pc. In this PC I had a 120 gig drive that I stored all my MP3's on. The said PC has been sold now as it wasn't being used at all once I got the PBG4, but I did keep hold of the large drive.
Is there a way of conencting the harddrive to the PB so I can copy MP3's across?
Thanks

you can put it in another desktop mac or get an external firewire enclosure. Slap the drive in there, and it'll mount just like a firewire drive (which it has then become).

Well that sounds liek the plan to use.. mount it..
Can anyone tell me, if I mount it via firewire, can I get iTunes to recognise it as an iTunes library? I already have stacks on songs in iTunes on the Macs drive and if I connect the harddrive can I create a library there??

Yep you can put your iTunes library on the external drive. To do this select the Advanced section in the iTunes prefs and there you can change the location of your music lib. Keep in mind that you can only have 1 library. So you'll need the copy the songs that are on the Mac's hard drive to the Firewire drive. Unless you manage your library manually but that's a hassle.

Is there no way to have two seperate libraries? Just cos I'm reaching saturation point on my laptop, but equally I don't want to have to play tunes via a external harddrive all the time...
Hmm a quandary

Sure there is.
You can use Library Manager (check www.macupdate.com ) to create several and switch between them.
Else, there is absolutely no problem with dragging songs from entirely different locations into a single iTunes library. You simply won't be able to play all of them as long as the external drive isn't connected - no harm done.
You just have to decide upon which folder is going to be the default library folder, where CDs get ripped to.

Wicked, excellent.
So if I'm understanding this right, you can have things in different locations that will be in the library (and updated automatically if you alter the tag for example?) just won't be able to listen to them all the time (fine).
Excellent thank you!
