I just got Comcast high speed internet and their email. It is a web based email that you can check via comcast's website from any computer (that is nice feature)

In the past I have accessed compuserve email via compuserve software and earthlink email via netscape on just one computer. So i am a little naive as to the ins and outs of being abe to check email via different methods.

I like being able to just use any browser to check email, but was wondering how I get Apple Mail to check my comcast account. Can I also check my earthlink account via Mail using the comcast hsi? I would love to be able to toggle back and forth between different mailboxes.

Having to log in and navigate to various browser screens to check emial is not as easy as the Mail app.

Would checking my comcast email at work via Explorer cause any problems with my inbox or saved email in the Mail app? I assume all the preferences and data is stored at comcast and not on a particular local computer.

Thanks

You could call Comcast and get the server info.
"You rise," he said, "like Aurora."

I've stopped using my comcast e-mail because it's become such a spam bucket, but...

Read up on IMAP vs. POP. I think you'll want IMAP so copies of the messages stay on the server.

Set mail.comcast.net as your incoming mail server
Set smtp.comcast.net as your outgoing mail server
Add you user account and password

Comcast has a nice FAQ at http://faq.comcast.net/faq/answer.js...tegory=Mail%20(Mac)

Not sure. They may simply show up as 'read' on the home machine.

May I make a web browser suggestion? Instead of Explorer, use Mozilla's FireFox (http://www.getfirefox.com/). You'll like the pop-up blocking a lot.
