How do they work ?

The only mac one I know if is called 'iCook' and was for a limited selection of G3 iBooks.
The worst thing about having a failing memory is..... no, it's gone.

iCook supposedly overclocks your processor. I don't know if that's the kind of acceleration the original poster was talking about, but it's certainly out there. I think any software claiming to speed up your CPU in any other way is probably BS, and I haven't heard of any for OS X.

Although such software exists for certain Mac models, it is extremely dangerous. The safe settings will net you surprisingly little gain, more moderate settings will affect your stability and still not get you that much, and the highest settings stand to ruin your processor.
