Is there anyway to save the "This Land" movie? I can see it now, but at night when I want to show my wife, it is so bogged down that we can't see it. Any ideas on how to do this?
Thanks

You could buy it . . .

or you can search your hard drive for file named mv_la_movie

it has a swf extension.

OK, as far as I can see, you can't "buy" that movie. This isn't a real movie, it is a small shockwave file, from a web site. Here is the web site:

http://www.jibjab.com

Also, did a search of my hard drive, no file with that name

Go to window / activity monitor (in safari) then right click save on the .swf when it has finished loading.

you can save practically anything from the web with this procedure.

When you say click on the .swf, do you mean the one playing once it has finished loading? If so, there is no save option when I right click on it. Also do you mean control click when you say right click? That is how I have my right button set up. Also, there is no activity monitor in Safari, although there is a activity selection. Is this what you meant?
Thanks for your help so far!

Sorry I'm so unclear, have had about 2 hours sleep - activity, is in the windows thing in the menu bar.

When you have the window open you will see everything you browse listed, so then you can control click on the .swf and do a save as.

OK, I tried both methods, and it saved the file both times, as a Quicktime file. When I try to open it, it says this:

"Couldn't open the file "this_land.swf" because invalid media data was found in the movie."

I tried right clicking to see if I could open it with flash player, but it doesn't list it in the options.
Now what??

that's weird...flash player showed up fine for me. i selected the file, clicked Get Info, and changed the "Open With". just to be safe, make sure you have flash player on your computer to begin with.

OK, now I am really confused, I redownloaded Flash Player and installed it. Restarted my computer and I still don't have the option. Is there a different flash player for the OS and one for Safari?? I checked all over Macromedia's website and found nothing. I checked at MacUpdate and Version Tracker and have nothing. HMMM

Sorry for the snide remark. When it first hit it big, they were offering it for sale for $2.99. I guess that's over now.

Just drag-and-drop the file onto a Safari window.

What you're looking for is the standalone Flash Player, called SAFlashPlayer, serach for Stand alone AND flash player on macromedia's site and you'll find the download. The Flash Player itself is just a web browser plugin - which you already had installed else you couldn't have watched the movie in Safari.

Stand Alone Flash Player
Open the resulting folder and you will find several subfolders with different language versions. Open the en for English and copy the player to your Applications folder (or wherever you want to keep it).

Thanks that worked just fine! (The stand alone)

Jason, don't worry about the remark, didn't take it the way it might have sounded. I just didn't know it was for sale.
