What can you folks recommend for personal finance management software? Would like to take advantage of our banks checking download information to assist with balancing checkbook

If you need the bells and whistles of Quicken, that's available, but even now, it's a crappy carbon port, and costs ~$40-$60.

My favorite is iBank. It's very simple, very well done, has very responsive developers, it cheap ($20 for full version, free demo), and it imports .qif s from all my banks/credit cards perfectly.

I would second the iBank recommendation. There seem to be lots of Financial apps out there that have a lot of potential, but the authors lose interest very quickly and your stuck with a buggy dead app.

Ian seems pretty commited to iBank. I just wish he would streamline it a bit more.

You should post suggestions in the feature request iBank forum so ian's aware of then (if you didn't already) But I'm curious what you mean by by "streamline" -there's absolutely no bloat features currently in iBank.....

I'll do that ... haven't had the time to put my thoughts together yet.
