good iPhoto alternatives - especially for thousands of photos

i have thousands of photos. i hate iPhoto inability to search as well as the album setup. there is no option for sub-albums either. after taking so many photos i have too many albums and it's not as easy to find photos.

also, they keyword feature is horrible.

i know it's a lot of complaints but for a digital photo management tool i don't like it at all.

does anyone else share these views? anyone use any other photo management programs? what do professional digital photographers on mac platforms use?

iView MediaPro v2.5.1

Will that work for you? It's a little costly; however, I know alot of people who are very happy with this program...
