1. Can you make a photo a full page w/o any left over space?
2. What are the dimensions of the printable book page size?

I'm wanting to design a photo book using Apple's printing service but don't like the default options and would like to use Photoshop to design a layout. Also, does anyone know of any good photo book printing services besides Apple's. They're kinda pricey. I know Ofoto has nice cheap options but I can't seem to find any way to do full page printing.

Thanks so much.

Unfortunately you can't layout an Apple iPhoto book other than using the Themes they provide.

There are options in each theme to select different pages layouts and I know that at least one of these has the option to print a photo full page with no white edges. (I have used it myself)

If you select the 'Picture Book' Theme and set the page style to 'One' you should find that the photo will fill the page. It does of course need to be the correct aspect ratio or you may get white bars at the top or the bottom. I suggest you use the iPhoto constrain option to get the right ratio.

iPhoto scales the picture up to fill the page so you need quite a high resolution picture if you want decent print quality.

There is another way to get total control over how you want the pages to appear.

1. Do the design in Photoshop of each page exactly as you want it to appear.
You can put many photos together anyway you like, add text, etc in fact make up any image or layout of images you can imagine.

2. Then save the output of Photoshop in a format that iPhoto can import. I'm not sure what these are but I know that TIFF and JPG work.

3. You then import the image that you produced in photoshop into iPhoto.

4. You now have a set of 'photos' that you can set up in a book using the 'Picture Book' theme, with one 'photoshop image' per page.

5. This way you now have total control over what appears on each page

The pages measure approx 8.5 x 10.75 inches

I hope that was of use.

Thank you . That helped me too. I have been making my own "photoshop pages" but never thought to then use them in a book other than my own binder for showing photos.
