There's one key difference from Safari. If I scroll-wheel-click on a link, it opens that link in a new tab (like Safari), but unlike Safari, it immediately makes that new tab the frontmost tab. I don't like that; I much prefer the default Safari behavior, which is to keep the current tab in front while opening the new tab somewhere behind it.
Any ideas on how to make Firefox do it the Safari way?

I get my tilt wheel mouse to cmd+middle click a link. That opens a new tab.

It still places the new tab in front. That's what I don't want; I want the previous tab to remain in front.

Mine places it behind the current tab (like Safari). Are you sure you have your middle button set up as command + left mouse button click?

I don't know why your firefox is jacked up. I command-click links all day, and each time they open in a new, *inactive*, i.e., not the frontmost, tab.

Go to Preferences -> Advanced -> Browsing and uncheck "Select new tabs opened from links"
