My family uses a multi-user Macintosh at home and we all use Firefox as our web browser. There are certain bookmarks that will be of interest to all of us that I'd like to share and make available to each family member when he or she logs in and launches the browser, but I'd like to display the vast majority of each user's bookmarks that are not shared (i.e., "private") only when that particular user is signed in.

Is there a relatively easy way to acccomplish this? We'd prefer not to go the expense and bother of .Mac if at all possible.

I don't know of a way to do that...

A possible workaround may be to make an HTML file with links to the pages and toss it in the Shared folder. Then put a bookmark to that file in each user's bookmarks.

That gives me an idea. Suppose I were to use that file in the Shared folder as an include in the user's bookmarks.html file?

sure. bookmark goes to "users/shared/shared_bookmarks.html" and that page contains all your favorite links.

Unfortunately, merely inserting the following into my bookmarks.html file doesn't do the trick
<!--#include file="users/shared/shared_bookmarks.html" -->
most likey because I don't have server side includes enabled on my Mac.
