I am looking to get a dual layered DVD drive, and I would like to know which one(s) are compatible with Toast 6. I have it narrowed down to 3 models:

Liteon SOHW-832S
NEC ND-2510A
Pioneer DVR-108

I am kinda of leaning more towards the Pioneer because its 16x, but I don’t know if its compatible with Toast. I checked Roxio’s web site for a compatibility list, but all I could find is something that said Toast is compatibly with most drives.

According to XLR8, the latest version of Toast (6.0.7) supports the Pioneer DVR-108:

I'm thinking about getting one of these drives to replace my DVR-105. They are a bargain at ~ $130.

totally, the issue here is to get the proper dvd media to burn at those speeds. I have never seen even a 8x media.

Currently I use the Pioneer DVR-106D (4X), it works fine. However, I look forward to get those dual-layer burner since their price is about the same.

Apple does sell 8X DVD-R at 19.99 for 5-pack.
